Liverpool agree fee with Roma for Alberto Aquilani
With talks of deal between Liverpool and Real Madrid regarding Xabi Alonso’s transfer making their final round, the Spanish Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez wasted no time and made quick moves showing interest to sign a replacement for the moving out midfielder Xabi Alonso.
Reports confirm that Benitez has identified Alberto Aquilini as a replacement for Alonso, as he admires his technical ability and is quite confident of the big leap for this youth who has exhibited great skills in captaining his country at both the Under-21 as well as the Under 19 levels.
However, before Alberto Acquilani steps into the boots of the moving away midfielder Alonso with 20 million pounds, he needs to pass a rigorous medical fitness test that would certify him that he is fit to play as he had recovered from a recent ankle surgery that he had undergone in the month of May.
On the other hand, Liverpool is still on the negotiating table with the Spanish club Real Madrid for Alonso who has already passed the medical test. The newspaper reports claim that Alonso’s transfer to Real Madrid is for a whopping 30 million pound.
Alberto Acquilani’s last appearance was in the Champions League match against Arsenal. But it was too many injuries that really curtailed his league appearances to mere 14 in the last season.
