Their first test match had been one sided where in Australia overpowered the islanders and crushed them to a innings and 65 runs defeat. Adelaide will give no opposite result in the 2nd test match and sadly we don’t see what Caribbeans did many years back at Australia with their body line bowling and tremendous resilience at batting. The team has degenerated to what it is now offering no contest whatsoever to the mighty Aussies.
Second test match between Australia and West Indies will be at the Adelaide Oval, and it’s a batsmen track allowing generous runs and especially for Australia it holds many great memories. I don’t believe Aussie loss is possible with the current form of the West Indies players and unless something miraculous happens.
Ponting had been amazing with his aggression and his gambles in the first test paid off (declaring first innings at 480 runs). The team looks confident and aggressive to climb to the top spot of the ICC test rankings. Lately they came down to 4th which they are not pretty familiar to and they eye the top spot. Nathan Hauritz has been impressive with ball and bat. Australia is happy with their bowling strength including Hilfenhaus, Peter Siddle, and Johnson.
West Indies are not expected to crush Australia, so they can perform under no pressure and Gayle would be happy to have Sarawan back and Adrian Barath has been impressive and he is a good cricketer in the making for West Indies.
A batsmen friendly pitch and the islanders should at least apply themselves and give a decent fight. Their bowling weakness is pretty explicit and Fidel Edwards missing is felt and Bravo has more responsibility in his absence.
If not a win West Indies should show they have a nerve to play a side like Australia to give any contest to Aussies.
