Deccan Chargers rope in Saina Nehwal as Brand Ambassador
Saina Nehwal to promote Deccan Chargers – Cricket
Saina Nehwal has clinched the Indonesian Open Super Series on the June 21, 2009 to become the first ever Indian to achieve the feat. Currently the Badminton World Federation ranks Saina Nehwal as the world number 6, and she is only going great guns with every tournament she is playing. She is of course now recuperating after chicken pox strike but is all hopeful that she will be fit soon.
Saina had been going places since her splendid victory this year and Saina is basking the glory of success like never before. She has just signed in the contract with the Indian Premier League champs of 2009 Deccan Chargers as their new brand ambassador.
The newspaper Deccan Chronicle, which owns the Deccan Chargers franchise, has broken the convention of signing up an ambassador from the same sport by roping in Saina (she of course plays a man’s game of badminton).
The Deccan Chargers of Hyderabad had an emphatic win over the Bangalore’s Royal Challengers in the 2009 IPL. With this contract the game of cricket, which is considered as a religion in India has widened its horizon into the game of Badminton and champion Saina Nehwal would well be the lucky mascot of the Deccan Chargers.
