England v Australia at The Oval, 1st ODI
Time: Sep 4th 2009, 12:00 GMT / 13:00 Local

It was again heavy rain in Manchester and this time not a single ball was bowled at Old Trafford stadium leading to 2nd T20 match between England and Australia getting abandoned. The fans must have surely disappointed to see the Australian come back and they now pray for a weather break (it doesn’t look quite promising and great though at the time of writing this preview) and shift focus for September 04, 2009 when the first one dayer of the seven-match NatWest series at the Oval, which welcomes the English team with some sweet memories (the English won the favorite urn after winning the last test match played here). But their ODI stats here in the recent times expose the English weaknesses.

In the Australian squad, there is a big change though with replacement of injured Brad Haddin by newcomer Adam Voges. Adam has been included to play all seven one dayers. Besides this, Aussie fans are looking forward to see Bret Lee.

In the absence of Ricky Pointing, however, his deputy Michael Clarke will captain the side. There is a hint that Pointing joining the tail-end matches.

The England side will miss their Ashes hero Andrew Flintoff but are earnestly waiting to play for a kill and snatch the series. But will the punters side allow them?
