6th ODI: England v Australia at Nottingham

Australia vs England 6th ODI Preview

A superb century by returning Ponting at Trent Bridge, and it helped world champs Australia to win against England the 5th consecutive time in the ODI series. This means Australia are 5-0 up in the 7-match NatWest series and they still have all chances to make it a whitewash series.

Ponting made a 126 his best against the England (surpassed his 119 previous best) that helped the visitors chase a mammoth 300. It was actually a nail biter when the asking rate was beyond 6 during the last 6 overs especially when Stuart Broad came in his last spell. All said, it’s still the captain and the vice captain that lead the team from front. A decent start by opener Shane Watson (36 runs) coupled by Michael Clarke and Ponting helped the visitors chase the 300. England cannot be written off as they have been faring well; it looks like the luck part is eluding them off of any wins in the ODIs so far. On the other hand, for Australia though this winning streak will mean a lot considering the upcoming champions trophy. The 6th ODI which will be played at same Trent Bridge Nottingham, will not be any different in my view point and the visitors will start as pre-match favorites in all likelihood.

Tim Paine hits 111 in Australia’s 296-8 in sixth one-day international against England. This would be a great boost for Australia.
