Croatia vs England September 9th 2009 FIFA World Cup 2010 Qualifier Results, Score, Highlights

england vs croatia

A win with Croatia will take England to the 2010 World Cup finals in the South Africa. They are on top already in Group Six with 21 points played from 7 matches and Croatia are not far behind they are just 4 points minus and positioned second. A win will be great, but in case Ukraine loses in Belarus then even a draw is sufficient for Fabio Capello’s men.

It was the same combination we saw sometime back playing for berth in the 2008 European Championship. We saw Croatia ruining English dreams.

So this time, the grace is that they are not out and away even if they lose with the Croats. There is another interesting statistic that supports England starting as pre-match favorites. They have an amazing 26 to 4 goal difference from the 7 matches played.

Jermain Defoe who played as substitute netted 3 wonderful goals will now hope to seal his place in the match. So will Glen Johnson be hoping after his impressive game last Saturday. Emile Heskey and Wayne Rooney might be in the attack but I wonder where Defoe would be playing considering his form.

On the other hand Croatia will miss Luka Modric and Corluka. But return of Eduardo will be a cheer to Bilic. Can we expect an attacking strategy from Bilic?

If all goes well I reckon England will be qualifying for World Cup 2010 finals.
