England vs Germany - UEFA Women's Euro Championship 2009

Women’s European football championship 2009 finals match will be between England and Germany at Helsinki on Thursday, September 10, 2009.

England had defeated Holland with 2-1 to secure a berth in the finals. It is also their first major final since 1984. The Germans sealed their finals berth by beating Norway with a 3-1 in their semi finals. It was substitute Fatmire Bajramaj whose double goals gave the lead to the Germans and a perfect win for the six-time champions Germany.

England team manager Powell is ecstatic of the team’s semifinal performance and is hopeful of a repeat in the finals. The manager is of the opinion that the team is refreshed and rejuvenated after their semi-final win that even ran into the match’s extra time. Remarking there is no pressure on the team the manager says the team will not leave any chance to play their best in the finals.

Number game reveals that Germans have won 16 out of 18 games that they have played against the England and the other two they have not won ended in draw. Although Germans are clear favorites, nothing can be predicted in the 90 minutes football game as surprises are a part and parcel of soccer.
