Lo and behold, subsequent to a hammering at the hands of the Germans, there is a dearth of reports on TV and radio about the outcome of this match. If you wonder why so many nationalities, my own included (Scottish), are cynical about England’s prospects in any major sporting event, one need only focus on the arrogance of the English pundits pre-event.

I wholly support any British triumph in any field. I am proud to be British and, in this instance, had a genuine interest in England reaching the final. I sought, in vain, the result of this match after hearing the plethora of reports on the radio and tv previous to the event.

A bit more balanced reporting, before and after events, would help the cynics and, of course, those who support the British cause, such as me, in these events.
