However, FIFA has confirmed that coach Stephen Keshi has applied to them for a nationality switch since the player’s parents hail from Mali although the player himself was born in Paris.

But FIFA’s regulation has been that if there is any player who plans to switch his nationality, he must have done it before being 21 years old. This may stop Mali from using him in their squad.
