Force India release Giancarlo Fisichella to join Ferrari for remainder of 2009 season

(News Update as on September 3rd 2009)

Should things work out, Giancarlo Fisichella and Kimi Raikkonen who shared the podium space at the Belgian Grand Prix could well be sharing same team.

The Force India driver will mostly switch to Ferrari and although nothing has been confirmed from Ferrari or Force India teams, this is abuzz in the Formula One circles and Force India commercial director Ian Phillips says that they expect a move will probably be made in the next 24 hours or so. The confirmation from the Force India driver Fisichella is also expected to come tomorrow.

While Ferrari has promoted their reserve driver Lucas Badoer following injury to their Braziliam driver Felipe Massa, the team is apparently unhappy over the performance of their reserve driver who had been miserable to say the least at Valencia as well as at the Belgian Circuit. They are obviously roping in for a teammate who could match Kimi’s resilience and consistency. After winning at the pole and yesterday’s race at the Spa, none could impress Ferrari as much as Fisichella did, and the team Ferrari is looking up to this man. So far it is not known as to how much would the Ferrari be offering to the team Force India to relieve Giancarlo Fisichella. Obviously it could be running in something huge and Vijay Mallya Force India boss would have been spinning the ball in his court to relieve Fisichella to the Ferrari for a huge monetary gain.

This could well bring in Vitantonio Liuzzi the reserve driver of Force India at the Italian Grand Prix coming in a couple of weeks later on September 13, 2009.
