Giancarlo Fisichella finishes second takes Force India to first podium finish

Giancarlo Fisichella drives Force India to the podium finishing second in the race after getting his first Formula One pole at the qualifying session on Saturday for the Belgian Grand Prix 2009.
The Italian driver had been ecstatic after finishing second end of the race close to a second behind the top finisher, Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen.
While on the other hand, it was the first win for the Finnish drover Kimi Raikkonen and also the first win for the Ferrari this Formula One season.
Fisichella who started on Pole after finishing fastest at the qualifying had been quite calm and composed at the Spa. After the initial laps he had even come to the third position, but eventually gave Force India its first ever podium finish at Belgium.
Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel came third ahead of the BMW drivers Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld who finished fourth and fifth, respectively followed by Heikki Kovalainen, of McLaren, Rubens Barrichello of Brawn GP and Nico Rosberg of Williams.
Button still leads the drivers table followed by Rubens Barrichello in the second spot and Sebastian Vettel in the third spot. Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton both crashed out of the race following an accident in the very first lap of the race.
In the constructors standings Brawn GP stands first with 128 points and Red Bull comes next with 104.5 and Ferrari in the third place with 56 points. Force India team stands in the 9th place thanks to Fisichella’s efforts today. There are 5 races left in the season and the standings are still not very clear to identify the Formula One champion driver of 2009.

Fisichella replaces Ferrari reserve driver Luca Badoer who was given the boot after disappointing performances during the last two races.
