Graeme Smith holding ICC Champions Trophy 2009

Finally, ah and I mean finally the postponed ICC Champions Trophy has been scheduled to take place in South Africa (once again the same great venue) between September 24 and October 5 2009 as per the official meeting held in Dubai. The tournament was supposed to take place in Pakistan in the month of September but has been rescheduled as most countries refused to travel to Pakistan for security reasons.

The sixth edition of ICC Champions trophy will be played in the Centurion Park and the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. 15 matches will be played with 8 teams over a period of 14 days. The teams are divided into 2 groups of A and B of 4 teams each.

The total prize pool for ICC Champions Trophy 2009 will be $4 million.

Group A: India, Pakistan, Australia and West Indies
