India Champions Trophy 2009 Squad

India has announced its squad for the forthcoming Champion’s Trophy in September. Post the euphoric seasons of late, the slump in T20 world cup (where noticeably, India held the favorite tag), and lackadaisical form in the Caribbean’s, the pressure of one billion people is back on Indian sport soldiers. After all, the Dhoni tied has ebbed and the cumulative flight of the heroes in our imagination is just giving way to some soul searching.

In the center of all events lies the inclusion of batting maestro Rahul Dravid. His induction is largely seen as a combative answer to the oppositions who assume to have found the short pitch tackling deficit in young Indian batsmen. Rahul along with Sachin can keep these short pitchers quiet till the cows come home. Sachin and Raina are back after being absent for the West Indian tour. Rohit Sharma and Pragyan Ojha will be two noticeable absentee. Their form has been hardly inspiring and there actually is enough reason to show them the doors. Virat Kohli is in for the triangular series prior to the Champion’s Trophy but he is not included for the September show.
