india vs new zealand tri-series

India v New Zealand (14:30 local, 09:00 GMT)

Certainly the Kiwis morale had been dented after their unprecedented loss to Sri Lanka in the first match of the Compaq Cup. Still they seem to be starting as pre-match favorites against India who are in the ground after a long break (an unknown quantity at this point in time after the rusty break).

To make the kiwis look stronger between the two there is adding shocker from the Indian dressing room. That the dashing opener Gautam Gambhir returning back without playing even one match with a groin injury.

The absence of the blasting and dashing batsman Virender Sehwag also makes Indian team look weaker. Now it looks like the old faithful horses Sachin and Dravid (who had been given the ODI call after nearly 2 years) will have to take the responsibility of steering the team’s batting.

Should Kiwis win the toss they will need to bat first and post a challenging total and defend it. Because it was the side that batted first here won the game for over 11 times successively until now.

Pathan and Raina could actually be great on their day but they cannot be the reliable batsmen. Dhoni should play calm while Yuvi should continue his natural game. It again depends on match scenario.

Should Kiwis have learnt from their mistakes they hold an upper hand for the match definitely. But one day matches hold loads of surprises, so you never know what is in store for us!
