India v Sri Lanka Compaq Cup Tri-Series, 3rd ODI Cricket Live Score, Highlights

india vs sri lanka tri series 2009

Sri Lanka v India (14:30 local, 09:00 GMT)

India’s win against New Zealand yesterday puts them in the Compaq Cup finals along with Sri Lanka. The finals will be played today and although Sri Lanka looks quite strong and a serious contender for the cup, India cannot be written off. They came after a 2 months long break and have done a brilliant job at that.

Ashish Nehra who was almost away from the International ODI scenario had bowled superb first spell to claim 3 Kiwi wickets which included prized wickets of Brendon McCullum and Jesse Ryder. The Indians restricted the kiwis to 155 and on what looked like a slow and a difficult the Indian batsmen played sensibly. First it was Sachin who gave the momentum then on Dhoni and Raina took it calm and composed. India won with nearly 10 overs to spare. Mind you, India is playing minus their star batsmen Gambhir and Sehwag.

Still, it looked like they are in perfect touch and will want to play their heart out when they meet the hosts today.

Sri Lanka on the other hand will not leave any stone unturned and will look forward to lift the trophy. They have been consistent and playing decent cricket. Samaraweera deserves special here considering the fact he came back after bullet injury triggered break. So is Dilshan, Sangakkara and even Mahela. These are pool of talent for Lankans and they are team that is ready for contingencies as well! Fans are looking forward for an exciting match today!
