IPL 2010 Schedule and Fixtures – March 12, 2010 Onwards

ipl 2010 schedule

IPL 2010 Schedule – IPL – Indian Premier League (March – April 2010). Cricket’s latest cash crop IPL is all set to return to India in its third edition in 2010. Thanks to the overwhelming popularity of the first two seasons, schedules for the third are already being decided. Start of the tournament is tentatively pitted on the 12th of March and staged over 45 days.

The big issue has been excess fatigue for players, which ruins their chances of performing to the fullest in national colors. Several Indian players, Andrew Flintoff and other players are still carrying IPL-induced injuries. BCCI will take care that the IPL time slot allows significant period of rest before the World Cup Twenty20, scheduled to be played in March-April 2010.

The original contract for each franchisee’s players was for three years. Many will try to leave a mark in the final year of their contract. Some players, like Saurav Ganguly, Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden are expected to hang their boots after IPL 2010. Eyes are also fixed on the age-defying old war horse Sanath Jayasuriya, who has entered 40s. Ganguly’s potential role for KKR in IPL 2010 is also generating curiosity.

Four new venues announced for IPL 3 season. Nagpur, Visakhapatnam, Ahmedabad and Dharamsala are the new venues, hosting some games of the Mumbai Indians, Deccan Chargers, Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab, respectively.

  • admin says:

The eight-team Twenty20 competition will start on 12 March and staged over 45 days, with one match being added to the schedule, a third place play-off.

It was revealed the competition will expand to 10 teams for 2011, when a fresh player auction will take place.

  • Nuklear says:

Australia captain Ricky Ponting, who skipped this year’s IPL, will “honour” his 2010 commitment to the Kolkata Knight Riders.

“I won’t be there for the full period, because Australia will be touring New Zealand, but will be with the Knights for the latter part of the 2010 edition

  • Nuklear says:

Australia and New Zealand Test players are likely to be unavailable for the first half of next year’s Indian Premier League 2010 tournament.

The IPL 2010 tournament is scheduled to run from March 12 to April 25 in India.

But Australia’s 5 week tour of New Zealand will almost certainly result in a number of players being unavailable to represent their IPL franchises early in next year’s tournament. The two-Test series will run until March 31, while the IPL’s group stage will go until April 19.
