IPL 4 Auction: 500 players to be Auctioned in July 2010

500 players to take part in auction for IPL 4 Season. One would wonder the fate or rather what will be in store at the IPL 4 auction, as the IPL 3 auction has kicked up a row over the non-inclusion of the Pakistani Players in the league.

This decision is still under a lot of criticism, and the Indian government was at the receiving end for this commercial venture, which was later clarified by S. M Krishna, the Indian Externals Affairs Minister.

The minister was quoted of saying that the “the government has nothing to do with the selection of players for sporting events”. Amidst all the controversy, people will be hoping to see a sea change in the IPL 4 auction that will begin in July 2010.

As for now, Keiron Pollard and Shane Bond have taken the distinction to be the most expensive players in the IPL 3 auction. Whilst Pollard was bought at an exuberant price of Rs 3.41 crores Shane Bond was also priced for the same amount and he was the price catch of Kolkata Knight Riders.

The IPL 2011 will see that all of the franchises shuffling players, and there will be over 500 players who will be auctioned for the upcoming fourth season.

For now, the Indian Premier League comprises of only eight franchises, but in the fourth season definitely we will get to see the inclusion of two new teams, and obviously the number of matches played will increase from 60 to a whopping 94 matches.

The franchises will also be allowed to change the captaincy, which will enable every team to make the maximum use of the available player resources. And the most important change will be that the star players will be deprived of the icon status. This implies the star batsmen including Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Sourav Ganguly, Yuvraj Singh and Rahul Dravid will appear in the auction list as well, subject to one clause – should their present employees prefer not to own them anymore.

So, the star tag will not bear much weightage and rather players who show promising form in the current season of IPL 3 and the ICC T20 World Cup should be having a brighter chance of getting the booty
