IPL Kolkata Knight Riders 2010 – IPL 3 Kolkata Night Riders Team
The name Kolkata Knight Riders stands to represent the values and culture of people of Kolkata; this team has Red Chilies Entertainment as its franchise and is one the 8 club teams playing a part in the Indian Premier League owned by Shahrukh Khan, Juhi Chawla and Jai Mehta. The icon player from Kolkata Sourav Ganguly
led the Knights during the first season but later on the captaincy passed over to Brendon McCullum. The other top players of the team are Australian captain Ricky Pointing, Chris Gayle, Ajantha Mendis, Umar Gul, previously Shoaib Akhtar and Moses Henriques.
With their anthem ‘‘Korbo Lodbo Jitbo Re’’ (we will do, will fight and will win), Kolkata knights started their first season with lots of expectations and played their first match against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 08. The inauguration of the first IPL was fantastic with the blistering innings of 158 runs played by the Knight’s opener Brendon McCullum. However, after wining the first two matches Knight Riders failed to deliver good performances and lost four consecutive matches. In the 1st season of IPL, the team has been able to manage the seventh position, a one place before the last position.
In IPL 09 controversies of various issues like team composition, Buchanan’s four captain’s theory chased Knight Riders all the time throughout the entire season and that affected the team heavily. As a result, they only managed three victories and found the last position among the eight teams.
After poor standings in the previous two IPL competitions the management of Knight Riders announced the team’s new coach as John Wright while the captain as Sourav Ganguly.

Ricky Ponting To Miss Half Of IPL 2010. Australian captain Ricky Ponting would miss 8 to 9 games of IPL 2010 to be played in March-April next year.
Rohan Gavaskar, left hand batsman who played in ICL for Bengal Tigers, has joined the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Team.
Knight Riders sign Bond for $750000. The Kolkata Knight Riders buy the New Zealand pace bowler Shane Bond for $750,000 at the ipl auction 2010.

Sourav has successfully lead KKR to superb loss to RR. Sourav has made a record of superb losses which can be remembered for long time. This is just an example.
Good international players became ineffective under Dada’s captainship. Local players look like no players at all. It seems that KKR came to play under kota system where quality hardly matters.
great disappointment for millions of cricket lovers in Kolkata. It is very painful for them to support another team at the last moment to enjoy the game.
