Mumbai Indians is the most expensive team among the eight franchisees of IPL owned by Mukesh Ambani. The all time greatest Sachin Tendulkar (Captain) is the icon player of the team and he took the charge of captaincy for his side. The Mumbai Indians are quite a popular team with outstanding fan following and having about 239 million viewers.
However, Mumbai Indians had a nightmarish beginning in the 1st season of the IPL as they lost Tendulkar out with a hamstring injury. After that incident, they lost their first few matches under Harbhajan Singh’s captaincy and the nightmare continued when he was suspended for hitting Srisanth. Then Shaun Pollok took charge of the captaincy and found some sort of a rhythm into the team as they secured a small winning streak. Finally, they managed to secure the 5th position in IPL 2008.
Before the start of the IPL 2009 season they had purchased the left hand in form bowler Zaheer Khan in exchange for Robin Uthappa with Bangalore. The other key players are Sanath Jayasuriya, J P Duminy, Lasith Malinga, and Dwayne Bravo.
Though they were the most expensive team but again they failed to deliver the best in the IPL 09 edition. They had only managed the 2nd last position in IPL 2009.
