The IPL 2008 Champions, Rajasthan Royals are a team from Jaipur owned by Emerging Media, Shilpa Shetty & Raj Kundra. As Rajasthan did not have an icon player, the owner managed to fill the captain’s place after getting the legendary Shane Warne during the bidding. Besides the captaincy, he is also Coach of the team.
The other Key players for Rajasthan Royals are Graeme Smith, Shane Watson, Yusuf Pathan, Swapnil Asnodkar, Ravindra Jadeja, and Sohail Tanvir, Robert Quiney, Dimitri Mascarenhas, Johan Botha.
Before the start of the IPL 08, many considered the Royals as the weakest team. But they proved all the critics wrong after being the Champions in the first edition of the IPL when they defeated the Chennai Super Kings by three wickets in the final. Shane Warne’s captaincy and instantaneous coaching was admired and well received by every opponent. Yusuf Pathan, Swapnil Asnodkar and Ravindra Jadeja are the real invention of Royals.
In the IPL 09 season, they had not been able to continue the form of the previous season as they played without some important players like Shane Watson, Sohail Tanvir, and Kamran Akmal. Their major problem was inconsistency through the whole IPL in this season. They managed to secure the sixth position in the league table.
