royal challengers bangalore ipl 2010This is the second most expensive team in the IPL history owned by Dr. Vijay Mallya. As an icon player Rahul Dravid led the team in the 1st IPL occasion. However, for poor performances of the team, the captaincy passed over to the current captain Anil Kumble. Ray Jennings is the coach for RCB.

The other key players of the team are Jacques Kallis, Kevin Pietersen who also been the captain for 1st few matches in IPL 09 season, Ross Taylor, Mark Boucher, Dale Steyn, Robin Uthappa, Manish Pandey and Virat Kohli.

In the first IPL 08 they started with a low graded performance against Knight Riders after losing by 140 runs and continued their bad performances throughout the whole IPL. They managed to secure the seventh position among the eight franchisees.

Before the start of the IPL 09, the management signed Kevin Pietersen and gave the charge of captaincy to him. However, he failed to impress with his performance but he had to leave for the England vs. West Indies series. The captaincy passed over to the experienced, Anil Kumble who took charge and immediately showed his fighting sprit with both the bowl and the captaincy. The team secured the berth for the final in the 2009 season and eventually became the finalists.
