KPL 2009 -- Karnataka Premier League Twenty20 Teams Info

kpl 2009 Teams

IPL is already hugely popular, and many state boards are pondering on their own little stint with twenty20 cricket. Karnataka is the first state to come up with an elaborate plan and have quickly formulated the plans for KPL 2009. Just like in IPL, there will be eight teams and bidding did achieve high monetary levels, reaching up to 35 crores.

Bangalore Urban Team is supposed to be the premier team that will lock horns with Bangalore Rural Team, Mysore, Shimoga, Hubli-Dharwad, Gulbarga, Bangalore and Mangalore. Expectantly, the Urban team attracted highest bidding at 7.2 crores. Belgaum made the bottom at the not insignificant 3.81 crores. They make up KPL 2009 teams.

It has been seen that the most high profile teams have not been able to translate money into performance; at least in IPL. KKR and Mumbai Indians have not even reached semi-finals in both the editions. Going by that yardstick, one expects a cracker of a contest in KPL too. Bangalore had six national players at one team. It is anticipated that each team will have certain grossly ambitious players. They do have icons like Chandrashekhar, Dravid, Kumble and Srinath.

Kumble and Srinath incidentally are not happy with the bidding system. KCSA, the elected structure, meanwhile have their own agenda and are making grounds furnished in association with Frontiers Group. The tournament promises fantastic cricket from 12tth to 27th September in its initial edition. If things go well, other states may also join the fray.

After all, money talks and has its own fair share of listeners.
