Manchester United vs Birmingham City EPL Highlights

English Premier League Man Utd vs Birmingham City
Match date: 16 August, 2009 -- Kick Off Time: 14:30 CET
Venue: Old Trafford ; Location: Manchester, England

During the last season we have seen Manchester United finishing quite strongly; they have had eight wins and one draw from nine games and that’s a stupendous feat. But injuries seem to be ruling the team.

While Ferguson, ManU’s manager could draft in Craig Cathcart besides he might well be interested in John O’Shea as his defence, and give chance to Ritchie De Laet for his full debut.

During last week ManU’s Nani had some injury issues when he dislocated his shoulder and Antonio Valencia looks comfortable for his debut.

Then, Nemanja Vidic was ruled out with calf problems and his replacement Jonny Evans too didn’t mad himself available for a match between Northern Ireland and Israel after sustaining ankle injury.

Wes Brown is a likely player again but then he missed preseason warm up matches in Munich owing to thigh injury so the sooner he gets into the rhythm the better.

On the other hand, Alex McLeish, the Birmingham City’s manager seems to face selection issues ahead of the team’s return to Premier League tournament. Main defenders like Martin Taylor, Liam Ridgewell, Giovanny Espinoza, Scott Dann and David Murphy all unavailable.

Lee Bowyer had been suspended and their striker Marcus Bent is suffering from a hamstring problem. However, Alex can build some hope on new sign ups including Roger Johnson, Joe Hart, Barry Ferguson and Gregory Vignal.

Alex quoted of saying, “we will bounce back. We’ve tasted two European Cup finals in a row now and we’ve experienced emotions at either end of the spectrum, but adversity is always an important factor in developing and improving.

Stats say differently during last 5 Premier League meetings at Old Trafford, Manchester United won all of them. Can Birmingham City change the course this time around?
