Michael Schumacher to return to Formula 1

Seven-times Formula One world champion and an advisor in the Ferrari Board, Michael Schumacher might consider a return to drive Felipe Massa’s car.

It was during a practice session at the Hungarian Grand Prix, in a horrific accident Massa was badly injured in the brain. Thankfully Massa is recovering in a Budapest hospital, but it might still take months for him to be back into action on the racing tracks.

It is in this context that Massa might miss some of the racing tracks of the European Grand Prix to be held next month in Valencia or even for the rest of the season.

Michael Schumacher’s spokeswoman has commented that under this hypothetical circumstance if Ferrari board approaches Michael Schumacher, he would reconsider to take on the responsibility on Massa’s behalf and drive for the team. Few days earlier, Michael Schumacher made it clear that he will not make a full-time comeback, but a temporary return can always be a possibility.

However, Michael Schumacher did suffer from a motorcycle accident in February and his return to European Grand Prix to fill in Massa’s absence maybe subject to his fitness. His injured neck should pass fitness test and level to drive an F1 car and compete in a race. His spokeswoman further commented that Michael Schumacher is already 40 years of age, and he will need to check on his fitness level if Ferrari approaches him for Massa’s replacement in the remaining races of this season.

Michael Schumacher to replace injured Massa?

As doubts grew over whether Felipe Massa will be able to race in F1 again, Ferrari are reportedly coming up with a shock replacement for their injured driver, 7-time champion Michael Schumacher.
