MLS (Major Soccer League) is a top slot and much favored professional soccer league in North America which include Canada and US; its headquarters being New York.
Come July 30, 2008 at the Rio Tinto Stadium in Salt Lake City of Utah, much awaited 14th MLS 2009 will be formally kicked off. To mark the occasion there is an exhibition match between MLS-All stars and Everton Football Club of the English Premier League.
The game is believed to showcase the brightest of soccer stars playing against the most elite club. Last year, it was West Ham United of the English Premier League that gave a tough competition.
Everton FC is an elite and the richest club in the EPL clubs with some world-class players including Tim Howard. The 2009 MLS All-Star game will be first played in the state of Utah. The first XI is selected through online voting system which forms 25% of the selection, with general managers, players, coaches and media each holding 25 percent of the total votes. Fans could vote three defenders, a goalkeeper, two forwards and five midfielders. The voting period will be there for about two weeks.
Kasey Keller will be MLS- All Stars’ goalkeeper and William Conde, Chad Marshall and Geoff Cameron the defenders and the two forwards include Conor Casey and Landon Donovan.
