However when it comes to T20 Pakistan appears as live wire, full of energy and the team looks automatically motivated to play give opponents hell of a time. They are of course ICC T20 champions for all these reasons. Much similarly, their first T20 against New Zealand ended in a great 49-run victory. Mind you in a 20-over match a 49-run margin is so huge. They will play their second T20 match at Dubai with the hope of seizing a 2-0 lead.

In the first match Pakistan batted first and credit to Imran Nazir who gave them a solid start. He was hitting the ball all sides of the ground and his 150% plus strike rate gave a tempo for their scoring.

At the end of 20 overs they scored a good 161 runs. Southee had been the pick of the bowlers claiming 3 wickets and Shane Bond took 2. Vettori’s absence was clearly felt on the field.

Chasing 162 to win the kiwis struggled to bat for the pace of the Pakistani bowlers, especially Abdul Razzaq and Saeed Ajmal. Afridi too bowled some stifling spin and got 2 wickets too. Wickets fell at regular interval and the bowling never allowed any partnership to settle and all 10 wickets fell for 112 runs. Imran Nazir was adjudged Man of the Match.

Today, when they meet again I expect some decent the kiwis come back with a vengeance and even the series. Definitely we can look forward to some good cricketing fun.
