Roger Federer won in the final, 6–1, 7–5, against Novak Djokovic in the 2009 Western & Southern Financial Group Masters.
Bringing all speculations to end Roger Federer won the finals beating Novak Djokovic for the third Cincinnati Masters Title and the fourth title in this season. The number one is regaining his form before he heads to the US Open 2009, looks like. Sunday’s victory for Roger Federer was his 61st career title.
Roger won this title in 2005 and 2007 as well. With preparations undergoing for the US Open Roger found his form out off the rusty layoff and thrashes the fourth-seeded Novak Djokovic in straight sets 6-1 and 7-5. He played a champs game to say the least. While the first set came off easily, for the second set both the players worked off; in particular Djokovic saved 6 break points and presented a real challenge to the number one.
The match lasted for about an hour and half and the top seed looked like he set his eyes firm on the US Open and he is upbeat about his form. Federer’s fans are looking forward to the big spectacle when he will meet his arch rival Rafael Nadal.
While Federer won the Men’s title at Cincinnati, and Nestor and Zimonjic duo wins the doubles titles.
With this thumping win, the Swiss will head for US Open with more confidence. On the other hand, Novak Djokovic suffered defeat, for the fourth time in a Master’s 1000 final. He did present a tougher challenge for Federer in the second set but could not capitalize the gain. This match was Federer’s eight win over Novak with four losses.
