Davydenko is in the last 4 having beaten Robin Soderling in a 3 setter. Davydenko should consider himself to be lucky to have edged Soderling. He held his nerve to clinch the tie breaker in the first set and I thought Soderling was not at his best in the third set, I hoped that the Swedish would win the match still I will not want to take away Nikholay’s credit. He played calm and composed.

Now back to square one that Davydenko will have to play against Federer. Although the two players didn’t meet in the recent times, I still feel Nikholay had had a hectic schedule and he might be feeling fatigued if not mentally tired. He was already complaining about his leg and then some breathing issues.

Roger on the other hand played 3 tough matches and he won against Brit Andy Murray and Spaniard Verdasco in 3 sets but lost to Argentine Juan Martin del Potro in his earlier match. He might well have played a little lose against del Potro because del Potro’s win will kick Andy Murray out of the tour competition, or he might have been outplayed by the Argentine.

Well, Roger has an edge over Davydenko because he changes his gear depending on the opponent and that street smartness gives Roger a definite advantage. He looks fresh and not tired unlike Nikholay. Furthermore Roger can handle pressure much better than the Russian and all these put him as a pre-match favorite to go into the final.
