IPL Team will have a new owner- Salman Khan!
Bollywood stars have crossed the screen barriers and entered the arena of cricket in a big way by buying franchises of the Indian Premier League. Shah Rukh Khan owns the Kolkata Knight Riders, Preity Zinta co owns the Mohali, Shilpa Shetty co-owns the Rajasthan Royals franchises.
And now with the 2011 season you will see an addition of two fresh teams in the Indian Premier League, and one of these franchises is most likely to be owned by none other than Bollywood hunkie Salman Khan.
The news is like a double bonanza for all the cricket fans. Of course, the whole process of buying an IPL team will not be an easy task for Salman Khan although he evinced interest and is a serious buyer according to IPL chief Lalit Modi.
He needs to go through the channel wherein he will involve in the bidding to select his team. The bidding is scheduled to take off sometime in the December 2009, and there are also rumours doing rounds that Salman is likely to bid for Nagpur or the Ahmedabad team.
Salman also had a meeting with the IPL chief Lalit Modi who revealed that Salman was keen to buy a franchise for a long time, and he has been informed and made aware of the procedure to go about owning an IPL team.
There seems to be a line up for the Bollywood to add in some more glamor and the oomph to the cricket in particular the IPL; Ajay Devgan, Sanjay Dutt, Priyadarshan and even South Indian actor Mohan Lal are all keen to own apiece of this huge cake and the icing is that the fourth IPL season is valued at $250 million!!
