Slovenia defeated Turkey to clinch the first position in the Group F and hence is facing Croatia in the quarter finals on Friday. The win against Turkey was a morale booster for the team and they consider it as a big win. This is because Slovenia believes that going into the elimination round with a win at the back enhances confidence amongst the players. Injuries plagued the Slovenia team but they came out winners. Continuing with the same spirit, it is likely that a tougher challenge is ahead of Croatia.

Croatia made quite a thrilling advancement into the quarter finals by defeating the Germans. It was a hard fought close finisher indeed with about 3 ties and lead changes and in the last quarter of the match it was antics of Roko Ukic whose acrobatic basket changed the figures for the Croats. The German guard Heiko Schaffartzik did his best to salvage with a couple of three-pointers, but the Croats had sealed victory for them.

Croatia has some great players who had been quite instrumental in clinching victories for the country. The team will thus pin its hope once more on Zoran Planinic and again Roko Ukic. However, one must not forget that in the last qualifying match, Croatia did not play a very impressive match, what happened was Germany made some silly mistakes that gave the brownie to Croatia.

To advance to the semis, Croatia really needs to work out better team coordination and playing strategies.
