Watch South Africa vs England 2nd Twenty20 (2009) Highlights, live Score here. How unpredictable the T20 format of cricket goes is amusing and it is one reason why we fall in love with this 20-over game. The first T20 between South Africa and England was marred by rain; if it were not there and the result would have been just different if South Africa played their full innings.
Sadly, Duckworth-Lewis votes England in and they win by 1 run. So England leads the series with a 1-0 and they must thank the rain gods for that. Their previous 3 meetings with South Africa resulted in 2 loss and 1 no result games. The win will certainly give them some hope to proceed to second T20. However, I am not demeaning the English effort; they have made an extremely competitive total of 200 runs in 20 overs (thanks to Eoin Morgan who made 85 runs in just 45 balls and some quick 52 from Collingwood) and they have had all chances of defending that total even if there were no rain.
South Africa started off very well with Smith and Loots Bosman looting runs from English bowlers. In 13 overs they were 127 for 3 and it is at this point rain played spoilsport to declare England as winner.
The next T20 match will be played at the Centurion on November 15, 2009. The one-run win will boost England’s team confidenc; however, not much to separate the two teams but England will look at Joe Denly for some solidity in their start and South Africa will still bank on AB De Villiers and JP Duminy. In all Centurion Park has loads of entertainment for T20 lovers. Weather forecasts does say clear weather to reiterate that.
