Mendis, and he certainly spun wonderful magic to leave the hosts South Africa reeling under a loss after the opening match yesterday.

Now they ought to win against New Zealand when they meet the kiwis. What looked like a tall and strong batting lineup collapsed under the spin of Mendis.

The team certainly will look to make some changes to come out of the mediocre performance, but the kiwis although have not had great season, they have been in touch and not coming rusty. They will look to better their team’s ODI rankings by the end of the tournament for sure.

The fact that South Africa didn’t play for long has been quite evident at their game and they looked laid back and least prepared with the ball on field as well as with their run with bats. After the match the favorites tag doesn’t justify to stay with the hosts. So Smith and boys, wake up guys!

Certainly Smith and boys will hope that New Zealand would be a better team to play against than Sri Lanka.

Kiwis were defeated at the Compaq Cup concluded recently in Sri Lanka and they have suffered many injuries. Their morale-lifting convincing win against a team like India at the warm up must be giving them the needed confidence to play the Proteas tomorrow.

The team has some formidable line up with Ryder and Martin Guptill doing great for sometime now and then there is the blasting star in Brendon McCullum. Ross Taylor hasn’t been in great form lately but will go fire his guns this tournament.

In all, tomorrow’s match swings in the favor of the Proteas, but you never know fortunes can soon change places.
