Champions League Schedule Twenty20 2009

India will host the T20 Champions League 2009 and the cities including Bangalore, Hyderabad and Delhi will host all the 23 matches of the first edition of Twenty20 Champions League 2009 that is scheduled to begin from October 08, 2009. The eagerly-awaited club championship is set to pump in excitement in the world cricket with 12 teams from six countries.

The teams from Six Countries

India:

Deccan Chargers, Hyderabad
Royal Challengers, Bangalore
and Delhi Daredevils, Delhi

Australia:

New South Wales Blues
Victorian Bushrangers

South Africa:

Cape Cobras
Diamond Eagles

New Zealand

Otago Volts

West Indies:

Trinidad and Tobago

Sri Lanka

Wayamba

The teams from England have not been decided as yet and they will disclose the same on August 25, 2009.

There will be four groups of three teams each and they will play each other on a league basis. From each group, top two teams will qualify for second stage and thereafter four teams will qualify for the semi finals.

The Champions league will carry prize money worth $6 million. It is ESPN Star Sports who are the commercial right holders for T20 Champions League for a period of 10 years.

The match fixture, featuring the 12 teams will be announced on July 30th. The tournament aims to crown the best-of-the-best in the world of club cricket and this cricket fever is expected to spread fast amongst all cricket lovers.

2009 Champions League Teams Groups

There will be a total of 23 matches and the teams will be divided into four groups of three each to play on a league basis before the top two teams from each group move on to the second stage. The four top teams from there will play the semi-finals.

Group A: Deccan Chargers (India), ECB Team 2, Trinidad & Tobago (West Indies)
Group B: New South Wales (Australia), Eagles (South Africa), ECB Team 1
Group C: Royal Challengers Bangalore (India), Cobras (South Africa), Otago (New Zealand)
Group D: Delhi Daredevils (India), Victoria (Australia), Wayamba (Sri Lanka)

    Champions League tickets on sale: The lowest denomination tickets in the preliminary phase of the inaugural Champions League Twenty20 Tournament, starting at Bangalore on October 8, would cost Rs 100 and the highest priced tickets would cost Rs 3000. Cost of tickets for the opening day at Bangalore, that includes the opening ceremony and the lung opener between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Cape Cobras of South Africa, would range between Rs 200 and 750.
