As I was telling you, the final match between Andy Roddick and Juan Martín del Potro will be a treat to tennis fans to see the backhand winners from the American ace and then the powerful aces from del Potro.

In fact,Del Potro’s overwhelming aces helped him win the Legg Mason Washington Classic Title.

With this win del Potro becomes second only player in the history after Andre Agassi to win the Washington Classic title. The win at the hard court fetched del Potro $300,000 of prize money and that came to him after beating Roddick in heat and humidity after 150 minutes of play.

Although the second-seeded del Potro looked fatigued and his agility becoming limited, he could still belt a win with his armory of aces. Del Potro won 3-6, 7-5 and 7-6. The third set had been a nail biter and it was a forehand winner from the ace that ended Roddick’s game who tried to overwhelm del Potro on his fourth match point.

On the other hand, Roddick played first time after he lost to Roger Federer in the 2009 Wimbledon Mens final. He sustained a hip strain during the match and stayed off court before the Legg Mason Classic championship began. The 5th ranker missed his career’s 28th title. While 6th ranker del Potro, had taken his 6th career ATP Tour title and the second one in 2009. However, the play here would have given some good practice to both the aces ahead of the upcoming US Open.
