UEFA Football Awards 2009 Results Winners

UEFA on Monday announced its nominees for UEFA Club Football Awards. UEFA says that the awards will be presented during the group stages draw of the UEFA Champions League group in Monaco on Thursday August 27, 2009.

Only the coaches of the last 16 teams that will have reached knock out phase can cast their vote for each of the positions and vote the UEFA Club Footballer 2009.

The nominees are for 4 positions:

UEFA Club Goalkeeper of the Year: There are 3 nominees for this position: From the Chelsea Club Petr Čech has been nominated, Víctor Valdés from the Barcelona Football Club and Edwin van der Sar has been nominated from the Manchester United.

For the UEFA Club Defender of the Year award Gerard Piqué from Barcelona, John Terry from Chelsea FC and Nemanja Vidić from the Manchester United FC have been respectively nominated.

For the UEFA Club Midfielder of the Year award Steven Gerrard from Liverpool, Xavi Hernández and Andrés Iniesta both from Barcelona have been nominated.

The UEFA Club Forward of the Year will go to Samuel Eto’o or Lionel Messi of FC Barcelona or Cristiano Ronaldo of the Manchester United.
