WWE Big Man Great Khali to Star in Reality Show, “100% Lucha”
With realty shows ruling the TRP roost across Indian channels, every channel executive is trying to grab as many eyeballs as possible by getting celebrities to take part in their realty shows. The latest one to join this ever-growing brigade is none other than the Great Khali (Dalip Singh Rana), the hugely popular Indian WWE wrestler who boasts of a large fan base in both India and abroad.
The show, tentatively titled 100% Lucha, is the Indian version of an Argentinean combat format show that will be produced by Endemol India and will be aired on Colors by the end of August. Scheduled to be shot in South Africa, the show will also see participation by some other popular WWE wrestlers such as Kilimanjaro, Nightmare, Skull Fury, Exterminator, Jason Steele, Tornado and Ananzi.
According to the sources at the channel, the show will feature 13 combat fighters who will be pitted against each other to compete for the title of 100% Lucha. The show will be hosted by Hard Kaur, the bubbly rapper who has already danced her way into Indian viewers’ hearts in the third season of Jhalak Dikhla Jaa, a popular celebrity dance show aired on Sony.
In the Argentinean version, the show runs two championships per season and the winner is offered a belt possessing a mystical item. Though the format for the Indian version is still to be finalized, a little birdie tells us that the Great Khali is tipped to be the clear favorite of the audience.
